SVP, Marketing and Business Development (April 2001 October 2002)
Reported to president as member of senior management team of this global provider of e-financial services solutions. Responsible for product strategy, corporate marketing, strategic alliances, and channel sales activities. In a down market I was able to maintain marketing and sales effectiveness while reducing program spending and headcount by over 50%.
Responsibilities and accomplishments:
- Managed channel sales team responsible for $18m in discrete and overlay bookings quota through IBM and other value-added resellers, application service providers, and systems integrators. Restructured IBM sales focus resulting in increased achievement from under 40% for the January June period to 85% for July December.
- Reinvigorated analyst and press relations program, resulting in significant coverage and reports including: Wall Street Journal, American Banker, Securities Industry News, and positive analyst reports from The Tower Group, Celent Communications and GartnerGroup.
- Drove securities industry product strategy up and out through corporate parent (Sybase) and created and executed product strategy for trade connectivity and solutions for Straight-Through Processing (STP).

Created Customer Operations business unit to build our core capabilities in customer support, training and education, managed Web hosting services, and product manufacturing. Responsible for $10 million budget (annualized) in 2000. At its peak, Customer Operations employed 22 people.

I joined the Financial Services team in early 1998 in order to re-define its core business model and extend its capabilities to products enabled for the needs of the financial services industry. In this group, I was responsible for worldwide product strategy and delivery for Sybases Financial Services business unit.
Product Marketing Manager, Internet Products (1997)
Working with senior management, I drove the content, messaging and marketing programs for Sybases Internet strategy. Hired to launch a new Internet development tool, I was responsible for overall Internet messaging, marketing strategy and execution for Sybases Powersoft family of application development tools.

- Key achievements included the creation of industry segment marketing plans for financial services and telecommunications.

- In order to increase Object Designs industry footprint, I created and managed the Object Design Alliance technology and services partnership program. I recruited over 100 partners representing software tools, resellers and systems integrators - the largest such program in the object database industry.
